Convert JSON, SRT and VTT transcripts
Turn existing transcripts and subtitles into SRT, WebVTT, CSV or readable text. Conversion happens in your browser; this tool does not upload your input or use credits.
How to convert a transcript
- Paste SRT or VTT subtitle text, a FetchFox transcript response, or a JSON array of segments with text, start, and duration.
- Select SRT or WebVTT for subtitles, CSV for a spreadsheet, or plain text for reading.
- Choose Convert transcript, review the output, and download or copy it.
Use Load example to try the formatter without an API request. Clear removes the input and output from the page. This tool does not fetch a video or transcribe audio.
What the formats preserve
SRT and WebVTT keep segment start and end times to millisecond precision. CSV preserves start, duration, and text; formula-like text is prefixed with an apostrophe for spreadsheet safety. Plain text keeps the words and omits timestamps.
Segments must be in start-time order and have a positive duration. Overlapping source cues are preserved. Common subtitle markup becomes plain text; comments, styling and positioning metadata are omitted. Blank lines and cue-arrow text are normalized in subtitle output so they cannot create extra cues. The formatter does not correct transcription errors or invent missing timing information.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert SRT to VTT or VTT to SRT?
Yes. Paste the subtitle text, choose SRT or WebVTT, and convert it. Cue start and end times are preserved to millisecond precision. The converter also accepts FetchFox transcript JSON.
Are my subtitles uploaded or charged credits?
No. Formatting runs in your browser, without uploading your input or spending FetchFox credits. You can use the formatter without an account. Retrieving a new transcript with the YouTube tool is a separate action that uses credits.
Does conversion preserve subtitle styling and positioning?
The output preserves cue text, line breaks and timing, including overlapping cues. Common inline subtitle tags are converted to plain text. Cue identifiers are regenerated; comments, styles, regions and positioning settings are omitted.
Why was my subtitle file rejected?
Cues need text, valid timestamps, start times in order and an end after their start. Separate cues with a blank line and keep the WEBVTT header for VTT input. The tool accepts up to 1 million characters and 10,000 cues, with timestamps below 100 hours.
